From Brownsville, Texas, the Raider Band represents the standard of excellence for band that is historic along the Rio Grande River Valley. A consistent recipient of Sweepstakes Awards in both Marching and Concert Band is familiar with success, most recently achieving a State Championship with their indoor drumline ensemble. The Raider Band is proud to be a member of the Brownsville Independent School District which has been host to six Texas Honor Bands, perennial State Marching Band contenders, and consistently contributes students to the Texas All State Bands and Orchestras.

About Our Ensembles
Marching Band
The most visible facet of the Raider Band, the Marching Band occur during the fall only and performs at both football games and competitive contests. This ensemble involves ALL members of the Rivera Raider Band in order to create the exciting music both on the marching field and in the stands. All students are welcome to join the Marching Band but should consult a director first regarding instrument check out necessary physical forms.
Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band represents Rivera Early College High School at the 6A UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest at the Non-Varsity level group. This ensemble plays challenging music that will be accessible to most high school students. Participation in this ensemble will require both after school rehearsals as well as consistent individual practice in order to maintain ones position in the ensemble. Participation in this group is by audition only, with instrumentation depending on director request.

Wind Symphony
The Wind Symphony represents the Varsity UIL ensemble for the Rivera Raider band. This band consists most of Juniors and Seniors and competes at the highest level of Texas 6A concert bands. This group performs exclusively during the Spring Semester and requires members to play challenging levels of repertoire. Entrance into this ensemble is by audition only and limited spots are available depending on directors request.
Concert Band
The Concert Band serves as a stepping stone for students who are continuing to develop their instrumental skills, with the goal of giving students the necessary skills to become part of the Wind Ensemble or Symphonic Band. This ensemble will play music that is challenging but accessible to all students who have participated in band. This ensemble requires no audition and is open to any individual who plays a concert instrument. This ensemble meets during the Spring and requires both after school rehearsal obligations as well as consistent individual practice. Membership may be terminated at director discretion dependent on attendance and attitude.
